Darvin is a consultant, facilitator and trainer focusing his work in the areas of facilitative leadership, change processes and community and organizational development. He has consulted and taught in a variety of private, public and nonprofit environments throughout the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, the Czech and Slovak Republics, Poland, Ukraine, South Africa and the former Soviet Union.
Darvin is currently engaged in strategic planning and change initiatives in several U.S. cities and regions, including Irving and Houston, TX; Greenwood County and Hilton Head, SC; Harford County, MD; northeast Vermont and several Colorado communities. These change efforts are primarily citizen-driven and bring together the public, private and nonprofit sectors to help identify critical quality of life issues and design long term, sustainable action strategies. Darvin offers training and skills development expertise to support these change efforts including Facilitation Skills, Leadership and Team Development, Process Design and Strategic Planning. He has extensive program experience in leadership and team development as both staff member and Program Director for the Colorado Outward School, both in the U.S. and overseas.
Darvin started Ayre and Associates Inc. a consulting and training business in 1991 and has worked with a variety of national and international clients. Some past and current clients include British Petroleum and Barclay's Bank, South Africa; the American Leadership Forums of Tacoma, WA and Hartford, CT; The Hong Kong Civil Service; Hughes Information Technology Systems; Storage Technology Corporation; Symantec; The Denver Community Leadership Forum; The Snelling Center for Government; Soros Foundation; The Kansas Health Foundation; The Duke Endowment; The South Carolina Health Alliance; VHA, Inc., and a number of U.S. health care systems.
In 1992, Darvin and several colleagues started a nonprofit organization, Chautauqua International, to help develop collaborative leadership and more democratic infrastructures in the former communist bloc countries of eastern Europe. This work has been funded by the German Marshall Fund, The Pew Charitable Trust, The Mott Foundation and Soros Foundation.
Darvin received his bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas at Lawrence in Community & Developmental Psychology with minors in American Studies and Sociology. He is an avid mountain runner, cyclist, skier and traveler.
