Community Initiatives is an Oakland-based nonprofit service organization providing over 100 nonprofit projects with fiscal sponsorship services including tax-exemption, accounting and financial oversight, risk management and insurance, legal compliance, grants management, payroll, and human resource services.

Our fiscally sponsored projects (FSPs) represent all nonprofit sectors––arts and culture, education, environment, health, human services, and public affairs. While many of our projects are in the San Francisco Bay Area, others operate in various states and international locations.

Client Services Manager

Community Initiatives | Hybrid, Oakland/Los Angeles, CA

Community Initiatives Client Services Department delivers high quality client relationship management to our nonprofit clients. Serving as the main point of contact for a portfolio of clients, the Client Services Manager provides exceptional service, support and guidance to ensure that clients’ objectives are met.

This position works independently with diverse projects of all levels of complexity and maturity which involves critical analysis of issues and proposals of solutions. In addition, autonomously delivers services to clients while providing advice on operations, administration, and risk mitigation. This position is currently working in a hybrid mode with one day/week in office (Oakland or Los Angeles).

Associate Director

Salinas Community Science Workshop | Salinas, CA

The Director of Development works closely with the Director to promote and sustain the vision and activities of Salinas Community Science Workshop. The Director of Development will carry out many of the administrational, accounting, fiscal planning, and funder relations work of the organization.

The Director of Development will assist in managing various aspects of SCSW programs. They will oversee some SCSW part-time staff and volunteers. They must be highly organized and have excellent management and communication skills. They should have a resilient nature and be able to persevere through long-term or challenging projects and situations. They should be flexible and able to adapt quickly to any situation that arises. The Director of Development will be welcome to run programs, develop projects and work with students, though this will be second priority to the administration and organizational development tasks.

Black Funders Network | Remote, SF Bay Area, CA

The Black Funders Network of the Bay Area (BFN) is a regional membership organization dedicated to advancing the interests of African Americans in philanthropy and addressing the impact of racial disparities within philanthropic institutions and African American communities across the San Francisco Bay Area. The Managing Director will work closely with the Advisory Board and Community Initiatives to lead the development, design, and implementation of strategic initiatives, with a particular focus on fundraising, external communications, and network building, ensuring the fulfillment of BFN’s mission.
