Community Initiatives is an Oakland-based nonprofit service organization providing over 100 nonprofit projects with fiscal sponsorship services including tax-exemption, accounting and financial oversight, risk management and insurance, legal compliance, grants management, payroll, and human resource services.
Our fiscally sponsored projects (FSPs) represent all nonprofit sectors––arts and culture, education, environment, health, human services, and public affairs. While many of our projects are in the San Francisco Bay Area, others operate in various states and international locations.
Seeking an Associate Director of Client Services
The Associate Director of Client Services reports to the Vice President of Client Services and is primarily responsible to ensure that high-quality services are delivered effectively to clients. The Associate Director will support the Client Services Team to uphold a strong customer service model with clear accountability for staff, innovate in order to be responsive to client’s current and future needs, minimize Community Initiatives’ exposure to risks, and lead a team of effective Client Service staff.
Seeking a skilled Executive Assistant/ Nonprofit Board Liaison!
The Executive Assistant Board Liaison reports to the President/CEO and provides support to the President/CEO by assisting with scheduling, producing documents and presentations, and preparing for Board and Committee meetings. In addition, this position may provide administrative support to other office staff. Preferred skills include: prior experience with nonprofits, supporting nonprofit board of directors and busy senior executives, familiarity with Robert's Rules of Order, and strong computer skills.
The Development Director will lead the development strategy to ensure the sustainable advancement of Just Solutions’ mission. Given the urgency of the climate crisis, we have an ambitious plan to scale our leadership voice, reach, and impact. We are searching for a Development Director who has a proven track record of raising and sustaining resources for organizations that are in a rapid period of expansion and change.
The Sr. Director of Research leads the development and implementation of our comprehensive research agenda, strategy, and workplan; supervises research staff and consultants; identifies budget and growth priorities; and ensures that all of our research contributions are accessible, action-oriented, and aligned with the priority needs of our partners and frontline communities.
The Director of State Initiatives leads organization-wide efforts to leverage and align the expertise of community partners, staff, fellows, technical experts, and allies within academia, government, and the non-profit, philanthropic and private sectors to shape, implement, and evaluate state and federal policies that deliver measurable and meaningful benefits to BIPOC communities most impacted by climate change.

The Project Accountant position is a hands-on growth position responsible for the accurate and timely provision of accounting services to support and enhance the Community Initiative’s clients. The Project Accountant will have a working relationship with the Client Services Team and the various projects sponsored by Community Initiatives, as well as provide support for other positions within the administrative section of the organization. Reports to the Assistant Controller.
