Laurette Cañizares
Client Services Manager
Laurette brings an illustrious career of purpose-driven work with her to Community Initiatives. Her more than fifteen years of work in public service, which includes ten years with the City of Houston and five with Houston Museum District, gave her the privilege to create policy and programs that empower communities, promote equitable inclusion, and create greater access to resources. Laurette is inspired to support the diversity of projects at Community Initiatives in fulfilling their mission, vision, and values.
Originally from Texas, Laurette moved to California in 2021 when she was presented with the unique opportunity during the pandemic to join a public benefit biotech startup in Berkeley. In her work there, Laurette led institutional partnership programs focused on bridging health equity and eliminating long standing health disparities.
Outside the office, Laurette loves to roller skate, dance, cook, and hang with her floofy cat, Ripley.
